Where South Carolina, Clemson rank in final Top 25 for college football for 2024
The college football season came to an end Monday night with Ohio State beating Notre Dame in the national championship game.
With the season over, the final Associated Press poll and final US LBM Coaches Poll were released Tuesday, and South Carolina and Clemson are ranked to finish the year.
The Gamecocks, who began the 2024 season unranked, finished 19th in the AP poll. It’s the first time since 2022 that USC is ranked in an end-of-season poll.
It is the Gamecocks’ highest final ranking since they finished fourth in the final poll in 2013.
Clemson finished ranked No. 14 in the AP poll.
In the coaches’ poll, Clemson finished 11th and the Gamecocks were 19th.
South Carolina was No. 15 in the final CFP rankings. The Gamecocks finished 9-4 on the season following their 21-17 loss to Illinois in the Cheez-it Citrus Bowl.
USC opens up the 2025 season in Atlanta against Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks return QB LaNorris Sellers and have been active again in the transfer portal.
After making it to the College Football Playoff, Clemson finished 10-4 following its 38-24 loss to Texas in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
It was the Tigers’ seventh playoff appearance, second most behind Alabama’s eight trips to the CFP.
Clemson will open up the 2025 season at home against LSU. Clemson returns several key players, including QB Cade Klubnik.
