Spurrier on open Clemson practices: Is that permissible?

Preseason camps switched this year.

Clemson has its first five practices open to the media and South Carolina, which has normally had its first week or so open to fans and media, is closed.

Steve Spurrier wondered about it.

“The media? You mean (Dabo Swinney) can open to the media and not the fans? I didn’t know that was permissible,” Spurrier quipped on Wednesday. “You better check the legal ramifications of that. There may be some lawsuits.”

Clemson was set to hold its Wednesday practice later in the day.

“You guys go up there and bring us a report back, and we’ll listen to you about three months from now, OK?” Spurrier cracked.
