Halloween treat? Texas A&M will wear all-black against USC

South Carolina won’t have to worry about its garnet clashing with Texas A&M’s maroon on Oct. 31.

The Aggies announced Friday that they will be wearing special-edition all-black togs for their Halloween game hosting the Gamecocks. Marketed as the “Aggie Nights” Primeknit alternate uniform, the tunics combine silver numbers and stripes with metallic maroon trim while the A&M logo is imprinted inside a Texas state outline and clear-coated on the helmet.

Now A&M has to hope it will be a night game. The game could kick off as early as 11 a.m. in Texas. The time of the game won’t be announced until at least Oct. 17.

USC also played in a Halloween-themed game in 2009. At Tennessee on Oct. 31 of that season, the Volunteers (in their only year under Lane Kiffin) came out in black jerseys with orange pants. The Gamecocks lost 31-13.

Under Steve Spurrier, USC has usually worn white jerseys and garnet pants for road games, but could come out in all-white. The Gamecocks could wear black pants.

The Gamecocks have lost the last six games where they have worn some form of black. USC lost to Tennessee 45-42 in overtime last year while wearing all-black uniforms with white helmets.
