South Carolina adds edge rusher, one-time FSU player from transfer portal

South Carolina has landed its second commitment of the spring transfer window.

Just two weeks after signing edge rusher Demon Clowney from the portal, the Gamecocks added another transfer edge, signing Campbell’s George Wilson on Wednesday, the school announced.

If Wilson is a familiar name, it’s likely because he’s committed to South Carolina before ... five years ago.

Back in July 2020, the then-Top-200 prospect committed to the Gamecocks over Arizona State, North Carolina and Penn State. That November, just 10 days after coach Will Muschamp was fired, Wilson decommitted from USC before eventually signing with Florida State.

At Florida State, Wilson redshirted in year one and saw limited action in year two, eventually hopping in the transfer portal. He landed at FCS Campbell in 2023 and was solid for the Camels over the past two seasons, totaling 34 tackles and seven sacks.

Campbell is a private college in Buies Creek, North Carolina that competes in the Big South Conference.

It’s not clear exactly when Wilson entered the transfer portal, nor what schools came after him. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Virginia Beach product did not post on either X or Instagram indicating that he was leaving Campbell.

He transfers to South Carolina with one year of eligibility remaining.
