South Carolina losing most tenured offensive lineman to transfer portal
South Carolina is losing a veteran offensive lineman.
On Thursday, 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that South Carolina seventh-year senior Jakai Moore has entered the transfer portal.
Moore, 24, one of the oldest players on the USC roster and the longest-tenured South Carolina player, starting his Gamecock career in 2019. Since then, the Virginia native has made 28 starts for the garnet and black.
After starting nine games in 2023 — earning starting spots left guard, right guard and left tackle — Moore figured to be in the offensive line rotation last year but a season-ending shoulder surgery kept him out. He was granted a seventh year of eligibility after redshirting last year.
With the amount of young talent in South Carolina’s offensive line room, Moore’s decision to transfer was likely to seek out more playing time.
