Transfer portal offensive lineman commits to Shane Beamer, USC football
South Carolina has made an addition to the trenches.
On Thursday, Nolan Hay, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive tackle from Incarnate Word, announced he was committing to South Carolina.
Hay comes to the Gamecocks with one season of eligibility remaining. He is the fourth transfer portal pickup for South Carolina this spring, but the first on offense.
After playing his high school ball in Katy, Texas, Hay committed Houston Christian and played there for two years before transferring to FCS Incarnate Word, a private school in San Antonio.
Per Pro Football Focus, Hay played over 1,000 snaps last year for Incarnate Word, the majority of which came at right tackle. The site gave him stellar grades in pass blocking.
He joins a South Carolina squad that has returning starters at both left tackle (Josiah Thompson) and right tackle (Cason Henry), but Hay also played a few snaps at right guard last year, so he could compete at a variety of positions.
