Gamecocks award scholarships to two running backs

South Carolina handed out two more scholarships to walk-ons on Monday.

Running backs Rod Talley and Darius Paulk were rewarded with the news to start the week.

“Darius and Rod earned their scholarships in part because of their excellent summer conditioning and because of the effort as special teams players,” Steve Spurrier said. “They both will be on several of our special team units this fall.”

Paulk is a redshirt junior from Columbia who transferred to USC from North Greenville

Talley is a redshirt sophomore from Laurens. He transferred from Gardner-Webb before the 2014 season.

Both will be eligible to play in 2015 after sitting out a season.

USC now has seven scholarship running backs, including freshmen Mon Denson and A.J. Turner.

The Gamecocks this summer awarded scholarships to quarterback Perry Orth and long-snapper Drew Williams.
