Teddy Heffner: I’m more optimistic than most people
Between now and the season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3, we will ask 50 people: “What do you think about the Gamecocks in 2015?” We’re counting down the days until kickoff. Today’s panelist is Teddy Heffner, longtime Columbia sports media member who hosts a radio show on WGCV105.1 FM and 620AM.:
“I’m probably a little more optimistic than some of the others. You look at last year and there were three Twilight Zone losses. I know there were a couple close wins, too, but those Twilight Zone losses, if you win two of those or even one of those, the record looks a heck of a lot different. For some reason, I am kind of confident that Connor Mitch is going to be a pretty decent quarterback. I love their running backs. I think the offensive line is going to be OK, and the defense is going to be better just by default because they were so bad last year. I think they have a good chance to go 8-4, 9-3 would be tough and 7-5 is definitely a possibility.”
