USC QB Watch: Scarnecchia likes his chances to start
Connor Mitch and Perry Orth have been here the longest, and Lorenzo Nunez is the hotshot recruit.
There is that other guy.
“I think I’m learning well, throwing some nice balls,” Michael Scarnecchia said on Wednesday. “We all do, but I think I have a realistic chance (to start), as we all do.”
Scarnecchia has been at South Carolina for a year and feels he’s doing his part in the Gamecocks’ quarterback race. Steve Spurrier and G.A. Mangus are saying that nobody has separated themselves – they’re still installing packages at this point and aren’t close to pointing to a No. 1 guy – so each of the QBs is trying to make the most of his reps.
Scarnecchia is confident that he’s doing well.
“All the quarterbacks are progressing every day. I think right now we’re all even, but that’s up to coach,” he said. “I think splitting up the two teams is working real well. It’s up-tempo, which is getting us ready for up-tempo in game situations.”
