The latest on South Carolina football’s injuries after Virginia Tech game
Though South Carolina left Atlanta with a 24-11 victory over Virginia Tech, the Gamecocks did not come out unscathed.
South Carolina suffered a number of injuries during the contest — most notably, cornerback Judge Collier.
After trying to make a diving tackle in the first quarter, the junior defensive back left the game with what coach Shane Beamer said was a knee injury.
Another guy who left the game was edge rusher Jatius Geer.
On Tuesday, Beamer said Collier and Geer “are doubtful for this week, but thankfully it won’t be long term. ... They’re trying like heck to get back.”
After his injury, Collier spent the rest of Sunday afternoon on crutches with a big brace around his left knee.
“We were concerned about Judge and his injury being long term, but it wasn’t and won’t be,” Beamer said.
Another player who left Sunday’s game was defensive back Gerald Kilgore, who was seen waking off the field with a bloody left hand.
Another injured Gamecock to monitor is freshman offensive lineman Shedrick Sarratt Jr., a four-star prospect from Gaffney who enrolled at South Carolina in January.
He didn’t travel with the team to Atlanta as the result of an injury he’s been dealing with for a couple of weeks, Beamer said, adding that Sarratt would have had a role in the game if he was healthy.
