South Carolina opens as betting favorite against Vanderbilt
Shane Beamer and the South Carolina football team will start off 3-0 this season if all things go according to Vegas’ predictions.
The Gamecocks improved to 2-0 with a 38-10 win over S.C. State on Saturday and are already favored to win their next game.
South Carolina plays Vanderbilt in its SEC opener on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Gamecocks are currently a 7.5 point favorite, according to the VegasInsider.com consensus. VegasInsider had South Carolina open as 8.5 point favorites on Sept. 4, but the line ticked down a point early Sunday morning.
As of Sunday morning, DraftKings and FanDuel both have the Gamecocks favored by 7.5 points. More major sportsbooks are likely to add odds on the game throughout the day.
The Gamecocks have been favored in their last nine matchups with Vanderbilt, according to VegasInsider’s head-to-head history that goes back to the last 10 years.
South Carolina is currently riding a 16-game win streak over Vanderbilt dating back to 2009. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 30-4. Vanderbilt’s last win over South Carolina came in 2007, and the last time the Commodores won a game in Williams-Brice Stadium was in 2006.
