LaNorris Sellers ruled out of South Carolina-Vandy game after hard hit
South Carolina’s offense took a big hit on Saturday.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers left the game late in the second quarter after suffering an apparent upper body injury. Sellers was hit by Vanderbilt linebacker Langston Patterson with 1:52 left in the second quarter.
Shane Beamer told SEC Network after halftime that Sellers won’t return to the game.
“He’s done. He will not go the rest of the game,” SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic said of the message Beamer told him.
Patterson was ejected for targeting. Sixth-year senior Luke Doty came in to replace Sellers.— and Doty was leading the offense when the second half began.
Sellers was on the ground for about a minute before being helped off the field. He was sitting on the sideline with no helmet on as the half winded down and headed to the locker room with about 30 seconds left before halftime.
In addtion to Sellers, receiver Nyck Harbor left the game favoring his right ankle the first half, but Harbor was back in as the second half began. Starting offensive tackle Cason Henry left in the first half while favoring his left arm or shoulder.
Vanderbilt was leading the game 14-7 at halftime.
Sellers was 6 of 7 passing for 94 yards, was sacked once and had minus-3 yards rushing. In his lone drive of the first half, Doty was 3 of 5 for 15 yards, with 13 yards rushing.
