South Carolina an underdog to Missouri in first betting line

For the first time this season, Shane Beamer and the South Carolina football team are underdogs in the eyes of the Vegas sportsbooks.

South Carolina will play its first true road game on Saturday, Sept. 20 against Missouri. The Gamecocks are currently a 3-point underdog, according to the VegasInsider consensus opening line.

As of Sunday morning, DraftKings and FanDuel both have Missouri as the betting favorite in the game. DraftKings has the Tigers as a 3-point favorite and FanDuel has them listed as 3.5-point favorite, respectively. More major sportsbooks are likely to add odds on the game throughout the day.

This is the second time in the last five matchups that South Carolina has entered the Missouri game as an underdog (barring any major changes in the line before Saturday), according to VegasInsider’s head-to-head matchup history.

South Carolina beat Missouri last year in a thrilling 34-30 win that snapped a five-game losing streak to the Tigers. This year’s matchup will be in Columbia, Missouri. The last time South Carolina beat Missouri on the road came in 2017.

The No. 11 Gamecocks dropped to 2-1 on Saturday after a stunning 31-7 loss to Vanderbilt at home in their SEC opener. No. 25 Missouri improved to 3-0 on the season after a 52-10 shellacking of Louisiana.
