Injury updates
South Carolina had three players listed on Thursday’s SEC student-athlete availability report. The biggest name on the list was LaNorris Sellers. The Gamecocks’ starting quarterback is listed as probable, an upgrade from the prior day’s questionable designation. Sellers exited the Vanderbilt game in the first half with an undisclosed injury (On3 reported he was being monitored for a concussion, though Beamer didn’t prove specifics this the week). Beamer has said he’s optimistic Sellers will play this week; if he can’t, Luke Doty will play in his place.
Senior defender DQ Smith and sophomore WR Mazeo Bennett are listed as probable. Tight end Michael Smith and defensive back Judge Collier are both listed as out. Collier hasn’t played since South Carolina’s season opener against Virginia Tech.
Weather forecast for Columbia
Fans making the trip to CoMo for the game can expect good weather on Saturday.
The temperature will stay in the mid-80s during peak tailgating time and will be about 76 degrees at kickoff, according to AccuWeather. The temperature will dip into the 60s later in the evening, but there is a chance of rain late in the game, per The WeatherChannel’s 10-day forecast.
Top storylines of the game
No luck in CoMo: It’s been eight years since South Carolina has won a game in Columbia, Missouri. The Gamecocks are 2-4 when they play games in Missouri’s home stadium, with the last win coming in 2017. Missouri has won the last three matchups at home, but South Carolina snapped a five-game losing streak to the Tigers last year.
What’s going on at QB?: Great question. LaNorris Sellers left the Vanderbilt game early with an undisclosed injury and was listed as probable on the Thursday SEC availability report. If Sellers can’t go, then Luke Doty will lead the Gamecocks offense.
A story of two offenses: The South Carolina and Missouri offenses are complete opposites through three games in the 2025 season. The Gamecocks are last or 15th in the SEC in total offense, points per game, rushing offense, first downs, third down conversions and red zone conversions. Meanwhile, Missouri leads the SEC in total offense and rushing offense, and is top three in points per game, first downs and third down conversions.
South Carolina and Missouri players to watch
South Carolina RB Rahsul Faison: Faison had the best performance of his three-game career as a Gamecock last week against Vanderbilt. He shouldered the brunt of the workload in for South Carolina with 15 carries. Faison totaled a season-high 74 rushing yards and scored his first touchdown with the Gamecocks.
South Carolina WR Donovan Murph: The true freshman wide receiver has earned plenty of playing time already this season. Nyck Harbor is the only wideout who has seen more offensive snaps than Murph. The Irmo product has started two games this season and has played more than any other freshman wide receiver on the roster. Murph has five catches for 94 yards this season.
Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy: The ULM transfer has played just three games for Missouri but is already one of the best running backs in the country. Hardy ranks second nationally averaging 154 rushing yards a game. He leads the team with 462 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He is coming off a 250-yard, three touchdown game against Louisiana.
Missouri LB Josiah Trotter: The West Virginia transfer is making an immediate impact for the Tigers’ defense. Trotter leads the team with 15 total tackles and five tackles for loss. He was a Freshman All-American last year and is the son of four-time NFL Pro Bowler and Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame inductee Jeremiah Trotter Sr.
