The SEC is going to a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 college football season. And with that change comes a twist: Each SEC team will have three permanent opponents they’ll face every season.

Those three annual opponents will be “focused on maintaining many traditional rivalries, and each team’s remaining six games will rotate among the remaining conference schools,” according to the SEC. The SEC previously has played eight conference games each year since 1992.

The league will reveal all those details at 7 p.m. Tuesday on SEC Network and ESPN2.

“The show will provide the match-ups and sites of SEC football games for the next four years,” the league said in a news release late last week. “The dates of games for the 2026 SEC football season will be announced in December.”
