South Carolina’s 3 permanent SEC opponents are set, report says
South Carolina football has reportedly learned its next round of permanent SEC opponents.
The Gamecocks will play Georgia, Florida and Kentucky each year for the next four seasons, per a report Monday by On3’s Chris Low.
Schools were slated to find out their permanent opponents Monday before a public release Tuesday, USC athletics director Jeremiah Donati told Todd Ellis during the USC-Missouri pregame radio broadcast Saturday.
The league was set to reveal all those details Tuesday night on SEC Network and ESPN2.
The SEC is switching to a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 college football season. With that, teams will have three permanent opponents they’ll face every season while the other six spots rotate among the league’s other teams.
Those three annual opponents will be “focused on maintaining many traditional rivalries,” the SEC said. The permanent opponents will also be reevaluated every four years.
