USC super fan: Schedule is brutal, but Spurrier is re-energized
Between now and the season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3, we will ask 50 people: “What do you think about the Gamecocks in 2015?” We’re counting down the days until kickoff. Today’s panelist is Stephen McNair, Gamecocks super fan who has not missed a home game in 30 years:
“As usual, the schedule is just very tough. There are eight teams in the SEC that are ranked, so it’s a brutal schedule. I always worry about the opponent as much as I worry about ourselves. We dropped Auburn at home, but we picked up LSU, so that’s tough. It also concerns me that there are three games on the road against teams that we lost to at home (in 2014). When you lose to a team on the road and it’s close and you get them at home the following year, you kind of get excited, but we lost to Missouri, Tennessee and A&M at home. Now we have to go on the road to those guys, so that worries me. What excites me is that (Steve) Spurrier just seems to be re-energized and focused, not that he isn’t every year at this time, but I think he is very motivated to prove the critics wrong. I just see that in his comments and in his demeanor.”
