Recap, scoring plays: South Carolina falls to No. 11 LSU in Baton Rouge
South Carolina football was unable to get an upset win in Baton Rouge on Saturday night.
Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks lost 20-10 to No. 11 LSU. With the loss, the Gamecocks are now 3-3 on the year and 1-3 in SEC play.

Yet another turnover
Nussmeier threw his second interception of the game with 1:33 left in the third quarter.
The interception came at a crucial time for the Gamecocks. LSU was on the eight yard line and threatening to score before Nussmeier fired a ball directly into the hands of South Carolina defensive back Peyton Williams.
Williams had just made a touchdown saving tackle on a 56-yard rush two plays prior. It’s his second interception of the season and his career.
That’s LSU’s third turnover of the night and the fifth between both teams in the game.
Redemption for Joyce
South Carolina’s kicker William Joyce tied the game with a 47-yard field goal with 8:39 remaining in the third quarter.
The make comes after Joyce missed a 47-yard field goal in the first quarter.
LSU leads at the half
LSU is leading South Carolina 10-7 after the first half here in Baton Rouge.
The Gamecocks will get the ball to start the second half.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers threw an interception with 4:37 left in the second quarter. It’s the second turnover of the day for the Gamecocks (and for Sellers who fumbled earlier).
This is just the second interception of the season for Sellers. He hasn’t thrown a pick since the Vanderbilt game.
LSU’s second turnover of the game came with 2:14 left on the clock in the first half. Nussmeier fired deep and missed his target, the ball was intercepted by DQ Smith. That’s the fourth interception of the year for Nussmeier. It’s the first pick of the year for Smith and the fifth of his career.
There have been a total of four turnovers in the first half.
Another Gamecock starter exits
South Carolina defensive back Brandon Cisse exited the game early in the second quarter.
Cisse was helped to the injury tent and stayed there for about 10 minutes. He emerged limping and is currently sitting on the bench with a large bag of ice wrapped around his left knee.
Cisse did not return in the second quarter.
First quarter injury updates
Defensive lineman Nick Barrett went down on a play midway through the first quarter. He stayed down on the field for a bit but made it to the injury tent under his own power. He did not play for the remainder of the first quarter and was seen sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his right leg (which was resting elevated on a chair) and no helmet.
Barrett returned to the game with 3:42 left in the second quarter.
Offensive lineman Shedrick Sarratt went down on Matt Fuller’s touchdown rush late in the first quarter. He had to be helped to the injury tent and has not come out yet. Sarratt left the tent and moved to the bench on crutches with 13:15 left in the second quarter.
Sarratt did not return in the second quarter and went to the locker room early before halftime. He was on crutches and did not have a cleat on his left foot.
Pair of fumbles in first quarter
South Carolina fumbled the ball on its first play from scrimmage. LaNorris Sellers was under center and couldn’t hold on to the snap, leading LSU to jump on the ball. The Tigers were unable to take full advantage of the short field position though. LSU was forced to settle for a field goal.
LSU had a fumble of its own as it was threatening to score with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers were driving but Ju’Juan Johnson fumbled the ball at the one yard line. Monkell Goodwine was credited with punching the ball out and Bryan Thomas Jr recovered the ball for the Gamecocks. South Carolina scored a few plays later.

The final injury report
South Carolina will be without three offensive linemen against LSU, according to Saturday’s SEC student-athlete availability report. Markee Anderson, Cason Henry and Nolan Hay are all listed as out.
LSU has two players listed as out: DE Gabriel Reliford and OL Paul Mubenga. Wide receiver Aaron Anderson is listed as a game-time decision.

South Carolina’s captains for Saturday are: defensive lineman Nick Barrett, offensive lineman Trovon Baugh, defensive back Jalon Kilgore and quarterback LaNorris Sellers.
South Carolina uniform combo
The Gamecocks will be wearing all black uniforms on Saturday. The black helmets, jerseys and pants are accentuated by garnet and white stripes.
Final betting line
South Carolina is an underdog in the matchup. LSU opened as 10.5-point favorites but is now a 8.5-point favorite in the game, according to the VegasInsider consensus.
LSU has a 71.8% chance of winning the game, according to ESPN Analytics.
