First betting line released for Clemson-South Carolina rivalry game
Shane Beamer and the South Carolina football team are a slight betting favorite for their 2025 season finale against rival Clemson next week at Williams-Brice Stadium, per Vegas’ updated predictions.
It’s the first time in 12 years they’ve been favored against their biggest rival.
South Carolina and Clemson will play on Saturday, Nov. 29 at noon. Clemson opened as a slight favorite of about 1.5 to 2.5 points, but that spread has flipped to South Carolina 1-5 as of mid-day Sunday, per the VegasInsider.com consensus line.
As of Sunday afternoon, Draft Kings has South Carolina listed as a 1.5-point favorite while Fan Duel has the Gamecocks has a 2.5-point favorite.
ESPN BET lists USC as a 2.5 point favorite, and the ESPN Football Power Index gives the Gamecocks a 63.6% chance of beating their rival.
Per the Odds Shark database, this will be South Carolina’s first time as a betting favorite against Clemson since 2013 (if the spread holds).
The last time the Gamecocks closed as a favorite vs. Clemson was 12 years ago, when Steve Spurrier was coaching the Gamecocks and they won five straight against the Tigers from 2009-13.
Clemson was favored in 10 straight rivalry games from 2014-24.
Updates on Clemson, South Carolina before rivalry game
Both South Carolina and Clemson are coming off big wins on Saturday.
Clemson clinched bowl eligibility and improved to 6-5 on the year after an easy 45-10 victory over in-state FCS foe Furman at home. Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are currently on a three-game win streak after a 3-5 start.
South Carolina snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday. The Gamecocks and coach Shane Beamer shellacked Coastal Carolina 51-7 and improved to 4-7 with the win. Regardless of its result against Clemson, though, USC will miss a bowl for the second time in three seasons.
The Tigers lead the all-time rivalry series 73-44-4. South Carolina has won two of the last three matchups, but Clemson has won eight of the last 10. The last time the home team won the game was in 2018 when Clemson beat South Carolina 56-35 in Death Valley. USC hasn’t beaten Clemson in Columbia since 2013.
