South Carolina will be losing an experienced member of its secondary to the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2.

Myles Norwood is leaving the Gamecocks a year after transferring from Ball State. That’s according to a Saturday report from On3 Sports, which cited Norwood’s agent for the news.

Norwood play 242 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He had two starts and played in 10 games. His PFF grade of 45 was the lowest any Gamecock who dropped into coverage.

He had 19 tackles, though his tackling grade of 55 also the lowest of any South Carolina cornerback. Norwood was solid in run defense: His grade of 72 was No. 9 among all South Carolina defenders.

He was targeted 21 times, according to PFF. He allowed 15 catches (71.4%) for 171 yards but didn’t allow a touchdown and didn’t record a pass breakup.

Norwood is the 10th USC scholarship player who’ll enter the transfer portal and the first defensive back.

Vicari Swain, Peyton Williams and Judge Collier are the team’s most experienced returners in the secondary for 2026. The Gamecocks were already losing defensive back veterans Jalon Kilgore, DQ Smith and Brandon Cisse to the NFL Draft.
