South Carolina edge Jaylen Brown is entering the transfer portal after a single season with the Gamecocks in which he never played.

Brown was the Gamecocks’ first portal acquisition after the 2024 season, transferring in after playing four games for Missouri as a true freshman.

A 6-foot-6, 265-pound former four-star prospect, Brown had high expectations coming into 2025 and seemed to be a candidate to replace Kyle Kennard as the Gamecocks’ starting pass rusher opposite Dylan Stewart.

Instead, Brown suffered a knee injury during spring practice and missed the entire season.

Brown is the second South Carolina edge to enter the portal this offseason, joining Zavion Hardy, who recently committed to USF.

The Gamecocks have now lost 16 scholarship players to the portal.
