South Carolina football lands transfer quarterback from MAC school
South Carolina has added a quarterback via the transfer portal.
On Friday night, Bowling Green State transfer QB Lucian Anderson III announced on social media that he’s committed to the Gamecocks.
The fact that South Carolina added another quarterback should not come as a surprise. From the 2025 quarterback room, Luke Doty ran out of eligibility and Air Noland transferred to Memphis.
That left the Gamecocks with just three scholarship QBs: Starter LaNorris Sellers, redshirt freshman Cutter Woods and true freshman Landon Duckworth.
At Bowling Green last season, Anderson entered the season as the backup to Drew Pyne and was vaulted to the starter when Pyne went down with an injury. In starts against Toledo and Central Michigan, Anderson completed 26 of 41 passes (63%) for 245 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran the ball 21 times for 85 yards.
In his second start, though, Anderson suffered a knee injury and missed the rest of the season.
A former zero-star prospect from Athens, Georgia, Anderson arrived at Bowling Green in 2023. He appeared in 11 combined games in his first two seasons, but attempted just 27 total passes.
It wasn’t until Pyne went down last season that the 6-foot-3, 190-pound QB was able to get some extensive collegiate action.
