South Carolina is adding another body to its offensive line room.

On Friday, Iowa Western transfer O-lineman Ashton Mozone announced on social media that he had committed to the Gamecocks.

A Granitevville native, Mazone played at Midland Valley High but wasn’t heavily recruited. Following his senior season, Mazone committed to Iowa Western Community College in February 2024 over a few other junior colleges.

In two seasons at Iowa Western, the 6-foot-4, 310-pound offensive lineman played in 11 combined games and helped the Reivers claim the 2025 NJCAA National Championship after falling in the title game a year earlier.

Even before then, though, Mazone was racking up offers during the 2025 — earning six in September alone. By late October, he committed to Washington State. Yet, when the transfer portal officially opened on Dec. 2, he announced he was decommitting.

Between then and Friday, per his social media, Mozone only added three offers: Kent State, Sacramento State and South Carolina.

He chose the Gamecocks, which are in desperate need of extra bodies in the offensive line room after learning that tackle Josiah Thompson will miss the 2026 season and Jacarrius Peak will — at least — miss the spring with a knee injury.
