South Carolina football adding transfer kicker to its roster
South Carolina has added a transfer portal kicker to its roster.
Former Southeast Missouri State kicker Malik Orsan committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks on Thursday via his social media pages.
Orsan redshirted last season at SEMO, an FCS school, and will have four years of eligibility left. He was an all-state selection coming out of high school in Missouri, where he hit was 8 of 10 on field goals with a long of 53 and 51 of 52 on extra points as a senior. He also had 41 touchbacks on 78 kickoffs.
Orsan was listed as a kicker/punter on Southeast Missouri State’s 2025 roster.
Beamer said near the end of 2026 spring practice that he wasn’t ruling out the possibility of bringing in another kicker before fall practice.
“But again, like all positions, if there’s ever an opportunity to add somebody to the program that you feel like can make the team better, I’m never going to close the door on that,” Beamer said. “Is there anything imminent or anyone that I think is likely at this point? No. But who knows what happens between now and August.”
Orsan will enter a kicking battle with redshirt freshman Max Kelley and Texas Tech transfer Upton Bellenfant. The Gamecocks are looking to replace last year’s starting kicker, William Joyce, who graduated and was 12 of 15 kicking in 2025.
Orsan was ranked No. 69 by Kohl’s Kicking coming out of high school in Missouri. That same rankings service deemed Orsan the No. 1 transfer portal kicker available at the time of his commitment.
