A South Carolina football player and his brother were arrested Saturday after police say they broke into three cars in Columbia over the past week.

The University of South Carolina Police Department obtained arrest warrants for USC running back Sam Williams-Dixon and his younger brother Elijah Williams-Dixon after finding evidence that they broke into three different vehicles “with the intent to steal items of value” from June 7-12, records show.

The State obtained copies of the arrest warrants for Sam Williams-Dixon, 21, from the university via public records request Monday. The former Ohio State running back transferred to South Carolina in January, went through spring practice with the Gamecocks and has been suspended from the team “indefinitely” after his arrest, a spokesman said Sunday.

Arrest warrants from the university police department state that:

  • On June 7 or June 8, Williams-Dixon and his brother broke into a 2023 Dodge Charger and stole a pair of Rick Owens shoes ($1,400), a Gucci watch ($2,000), a Cuban link chain with a letter “B” pendant ($6,000), $300 in cash, a key fob cover ($100) and a pair of Jordan brand sneakers from the car. The location of the incident was 650 Lincoln St. in Columbia.
  • On June 10 or June 11, Williams-Dixon and his brother broke into a 2018 Dodge Charger “with the intent to steal items of value.” Specific items aren’t listed. The location of the incident was 650 Lincoln St. in Columbia.
  • On June 12, Williams-Dixon and his brother broke into a 2026 Mercedes SUV “with the intent to steal items of value.” Specific items targeted weren’t listed. The location of the incident was 737 Gadsden St. in Columbia.

The information in the warrants is backed up by “video surveillance,” “access card records,” “a confession” and property recovered from the Williams-Dixon residence, according to University of South Carolina police.

650 Lincoln St. is the listed address for 650 Lincoln, an on-campus USC student housing complex in downtown Columbia. 737 Gadsden St. is the listed address for Gateway 737, another nearby student apartment complex.

The arrest warrants identify Elijah Williams-Dixon, 19, as the brother of Sam Williams-Dixon. Elijah Williams-Dixon is not on South Carolina’s football roster, is not listed in USC’s directory and is not believed to be a student at the university.

Both Williams-Dixon brothers were arrested Saturday on seven charges apiece, per Richland County court records: three charges of larceny/breaking into a motor vehicle; three charges of criminal conspiracy; and one charge of grand larceny in which the total value was more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Both men posted $150,000 personal recognizance bonds Sunday and were released from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, where they’d been held following their arrests.

Williams-Dixon is listed as Sam Dixon on South Carolina’s online football roster. He was one of three transfer running backs the Gamecocks signed for 2026. The Ohio native had 10 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown in two seasons at Ohio State.

The 5-foot-10, 212-pound Williams-Dixon is listed as a redshirt sophomore and was set to have three years of eligibility remaining. He’s a sports media major, per USC’s website.

His younger brother, Elijah, also played high school football in Ohio, per MaxPreps.
