Between now and the season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3, we will ask 50 people: “What do you think about the Gamecocks in 2015?” We’re counting down the days until kickoff. Today’s panelist is Joe Pinner, longtime Columbia broadcaster:

“Everything is up in the air but I have a feeling that the Head Ball Coach has something up his sleeve, and it’s going to be a quarterback. And all of these prospects are going to be better than expected by a lot of doubters. The thing is we were just short of winning so many games last year in the final two minutes that I think that with Jon Hoke coming in, we are going to be able to be a little better football team and I think we have signed some good recruits. There seems to be a growing team spirit among the team, and the secret to Gamecock football is this: That ball is ours. When they have it, we want it, we are going to get it and when we have it, we are going to keep it. It’s that simple. It has to do with that ball, properly inflated of course. I really feel that Coach Spurrier is comfortable this year and I think we are going to do quite well.”
