USC’s Skai Moore named SEC Defensive Player of the Week
South Carolina’s Skai Moore was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The junior linebacker led the team with 10 tackles and came up with a pair of interceptions, both in the end zone, to preserve the Gamecocks' 17-13 win over North Carolina.
The Tar Heels marched down the field on their opening drive, moving 58 yards in six plays before Moore intercepted a pass in the end zone on a 3rd-and-goal play from the 7-yard-line. Then with just a little over three minutes left in the contest, Moore again picked off a pass in the end zone, this time on a 4th-and-goal from the 8. The Gamecocks were able to run out the clock and secure the victory.
Moore has nine interceptions in his career. The school record is 14.
