UCF dismisses star running back

UCF announced Tuesday that All-American Athletic Conference running back Will Stanback has been dismissed from the football team.

A statement released by UCF Athletics read, “William Stanback has been dismissed from the football team for continuous failure to comply with athletic policy and team rules.”

The statement did not indicate which rules Stanback violated.

UCF plays at South Carolina at noon Saturday.

UCF coach George O’Leary is scheduled to address the media after practice Tuesday. He previously said Monday the coaches had no plans to use Stanback to fill gaps on special teams or anywhere else on the roster, adding he would make a formal announcement about Stanback’s status with the team Tuesday.
