Steve Spurrier visiting Nebraska this weekend
Former South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier will be in attendance at Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium on Saturday when the Cornhuskers host Michigan State.
It will be Spurrier’s first game in Lincoln and came at the invite of Nebraska Athletics Director Shawn Eichorst, according to Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star columnist Steven M. Sipple.
Spurrier attended Michigan vs. Michigan State on Oct. 17, his first visit ever to Michigan Stadium on the Saturday of the week he resigned as USC’s head coach.
Eichorst was senior associate athletics director for administration at South Carolina from 2004 to 2006, working closely with the Gamecocks’ football and baseball programs.
At 3-6, Nebraska under first-year coach Mike Riley is off to its worst nine-game start since 1960.
Saturday’s game is at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
