Marco Rubio is hoping the winningest quarterback in University of South Carolina history can help him gain some ground in the Palmetto State this week.
Rubio -- a U.S. Senator from Florida who will face Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and John Kasich and others in Saturday’s Republican presidential primary – will campaign with Connor Shaw this evening in Chapin and again Thursday in Greenville.
Shaw will appear with Rubio at 450 East Boundary Street in Chapin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The doors open at 5 p.m. He will appear at Swamp Rabbit Crossfit at 25 Peden Street in Greenville on Thursday.
Shaw, who is now with the Cleveland Browns, won 27 games as the Gamecocks starting quarterback from 2010-2013. He is fourth in school history in passing yards (6,074) and second in passing touchdowns (56).

He is the second former state signal-caller to appear with a candidate. Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd appeared with Kasich earlier in the campaign.
