Former South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier will appear Friday at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta for the Curing Kids Cancer First and Gold Gala.

Spurrier, who retired in October after 10-and-a-half seasons as the Gamecocks head football coach, will be joined by longtime sports writer Tony Barnhart, former NFL lineman Randy Cross, Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Geno Atkins and South Carolina associate athletics director Charles Waddell on a celebrity panel that will take questions from 12-year-old leukemia survivors.

Spurrier will discuss his new role as a special assistant to USC president Harris Pastides, according to the event’s organizers.
