Will Muschamp, Boom Bus set to hit the road for Spurs Up Tour

The Gamecock Club’s 2016 Spurs Up Tour includes head football coach Will Muschamp and a new addition: the Boom Bus.

South Carolina introduced Muschamp’s mode of transportation for the annual Gamecock Club tour that kicks off Wednesday evening at Williams-Brice Stadium.

The bus was loaned to USC’s Athletics Department by Gamecocks supporter Reamer King of King Cadillac in Florence. The artwork and graphics – which include the words BOOM BUS, a Muschamp photo and signature and his trademark #SPURSUP social media hashtag – were done by fan and donor Roger Huskey of Hollywood’s Productions in Gaffney.

“It’s the first time we’ve utilized a tour bus for our tour,” said Jeff Crane, USC senior associate AD for development and the Gamecock Club. “We think it will add a different element. With coach Muschamp, his personality is that he wants to be out there. He wants to meet our fan base. We thought it was a great opportunity to implement this bus.”

The Boom Bus concept was shared by USC graduate Mike Boykin, CEO of Bespoke Sports & Entertainment, then adopted by USC’s marketing department and Muschamp, who is often known by the nickname Coach Boom.

Muschamp and the Boom Bus will visit a nine locations in the state of South Carolina, and each event will provide the opportunity for autographs and an update from Muschamp and other USC coaches. Cocky and the South Carolina cheerleaders also are part of the tour.

“Fans need to be appreciated,” he said. “To see how welcoming they’ve been for us, I want to be as welcoming to them. This is a little something for us to give back. It’s really important to get out in front of them and meet them.”

Muschamp said he never envisioned his photo being on a bus but was happy with the finished product.

“It looks good,” Muschamp said. “I’m trying to figure out what I’m pointing out, probably Atlanta because that’s where we’re headed.
