South Carolina head coach Shawn Elliott says it’s the people who make Williams-Brice Stadium special.
“That’s the number one thing. The fan base creates Williams-Brice and it has ever since I’ve grown up coming to football games,” Elliott said. “Thick and thin, wins and losses. The energy and the passion people have for Carolina football and Carolina athletics in general is what sets us apart.”
Elliott hopes – and says he believes – that those people will be with his team in person and in voice when the Gamecocks host Florida on Saturday at noon. That’s no sure bet for a team that is 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the SEC.
“We’ve been in some pretty big stadiums the last few weeks and these Carolina fans, they know how to do it, and they know how to do it right,” Elliott said. “We’re looking for them to do it right on Saturday.”

Williams-Brice Stadium has been at or very near full capacity based on announced attendance in each of the three home games this season. If it is again Saturday, it will help Elliott’s point about his fan base.
