After Saturday, it’s going to be a long time before South Carolina plays another Power 5 opponent in Williams-Brice Stadium.
Thanks to a start of the 2016 Gamecocks season that includes three straight conference games on the road, it will be Oct. 1, 2016, before South Carolina hosts another big-time opponent. That day it will be Texas A&M.
On Saturday, of course, it will be Clemson, and the reason I opened with a reminder about next year’s schedule is I think there could be some folks considering not attending Saturday’s game against the Tigers.
I can understand why. The Gamecocks have lost four in a row. They are 17.5-point underdogs. And the Tigers have a really good team this year, ranked No. 1 in the nation in fact. All that could add up to a bad loss for South Carolina.

Still, the Gamecocks can at least win the turnstile. With the Tigers playing so well and the Gamecocks playing so poorly, there will be plenty of Tiger fans who will be looking to grab up tickets. If there’s more orange and purple than garnet and black in the stands at Williams-Brice, that’ll already by a victory for Clemson.
