Odds for USC men winning basketball national title getting shorter

Think the odds for the South Carolina men winning an NCAA Tournament national championship are long?

They’re a lot shorter than they were at this time last year. Coach Frank Martin’s Gamecocks were listed at 200/1 to win the national title prior to this past season when they wound up making a run to the Final Four, losing in the semifinals to Gonzaga.

This year CBSsports.com lists the Gamecocks at 100/1 odds to win the national title. Four SEC teams are ahead of them.

Kentucky and Duke are co-favorites at 7/1 odds.

Defending champion North Carolina is listed at 30/1, along with Florida, the team USC beat in the Elite Eight this past season.

Missouri and Alabama, which both feature highly-ranked recruiting classes, are listed at 40/1 and 50/1 respectively.

Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Auburn join USC at 100/1 odds.
