Galloway makes most of his minutes

Guard Ramon Galloway had 21 points in 25 minutes, hitting a number of key 3s and showing an energy that seemed lacking among other players. The highlight was a perfectly-thrown alley-oop by Robert Wilder, which Galloway slammed home.

"I tried to go out and play hard," Galloway said. "Everybody just tried to play hard just to get the seniors the win. We came up short."

The Tide roll

It was Alabama's first win at the Colonial Life Arena, which opened in 2001. First-year coach Anthony Grant also earned his first victory at Alabama against an SEC East team.

Glass domination

Alabama was without its top rebounder, JaMychael Green. But USC remains shorthanded in the post, coach Darrin Horn pointed out, which meant center Sam Muldrow's lack of production (four rebounds) was critical to the lopsided rebounding margin.

"Sam's number surprises me," Horn said. " On the night that he has four rebounds we're probably not gonna look too good on the glass."
