South Carolina basketball down two guards for Texas A&M game
South Carolina will be without a couple reserve guards when it takes on Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, on Saturday.
The Gamecocks have announced both T.J. Moss (death in family) and Trae Hannibal (left ankle sprain) are unavailable for the game against the Aggies. Tip time is 1 p.m. The game will air on SEC Network.
The absences limit USC’s backcourt depth. Moss is coming off, arguably, the best game of his career. The redshirt freshman came off the bench to score 10 points, hand out three assists and commit no turnovers in 23 minutes as the Gamecocks upset No. 10 Kentucky on Wednesday in Colonial Life Arena. The SEC Network reported Moss lost his best friend.
Hannibal, a true freshman from Hartsville, has been electric at time this season. He’s averaging three points in just over 10 minutes a game. The SEC Network reported Hannibal suffered his injury Friday in practice.
It’s likely that Frank Martin will still start A.J. Lawson and Jermaine Couisnard in the backcourt, but will again rely on Jair Bolden. Bolden, in a rut since starring in the Virginia win on Dec. 22, was a healthy scratch against Kentucky. The junior is fourth on the team in scoring.
