Key piece of Gamecocks’ Final Four team finds new hoops home

Rakym Felder is headed back to Southeast to finish his college basketball career.

The former South Carolina basketball player announced Thursday that he is committed to Tuskegee University, a Division II school in Alabama.

Felder played briefly at Wiley Junior College in New Mexico from 2018-19 before announcing last year he was headed to Kent State. He wasn’t listed on the Golden Flashes’ roster this season.

Felder was a member of the Gamecocks’ Final Four team in 2017, averaging 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game as a freshman. He scored 15 points in USC’s win over Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

But Felder was let go from the team on April 23, 2018. A pair of arrests in October 2016 and again in July 2017 led to his dismissal from USC. When Felder re-enrolled in January 2018, he only practiced with the team.
