South Carolina fans reacting to Lamont Paris hire are split into two distinct camps

Lamont Paris and University of South Carolina administrators will soon gather for an introductory press conference where they will cast a vision for what they believe will be a long, successful tenure for the 33rd head coach in school history.

Paris was reported by ESPN late Monday as being the Gamecocks’ choice for a new basketball coach, a decision that reportedly came down to the Chattanooga coach and Gamecock great BJ McKie.

Meanwhile, the court of public opinion is already weighing in with a mix of thoughtful commentary and early optimism alongside concerns about the search progress and the hire itself.

We pulled some of those remarks from Twitter and shared them below. Which side do you fall on?

Lamont Paris reaction: Happy or thoughtful

Lamont Paris reaction: Confused or disappointed
