South Carolina basketball picked up a commitment for the Class of 2025 on Tuesday.

Forward Hayden Assemian of Powdersville High School announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he was committing to Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks.

“Home sweet home,” Assemian wrote.

Assemian, a high school junior, took a visit to South Carolina over the weekend and also one earlier this month. He is the first commitment for the Class of 2025.

“I chose this program because of how coach Paris and the rest of the coaches develop players and men,” Assemian told The State. “Me and coach Paris are very close now as well as all the coaching staff.”

Assessmian played at Legacy Early College in Greenville last season but transferred back to Powdersville where he played at his freshman season. As a freshman, he averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Last year at Legacy, Assessmian averaged 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in conference games last year.

The 6-foot-8 Assemian is a four-star prospect by 247Sports Composite and ranked No. 118 nationally. That website also ranks Assemian as the No. 23 power forward nationally and No. 2 player in South Carolina. He also had offers from Appalachian State, George Mason, Hampton and Wake Forest.

While Assemian is considered a power forward in recruiting circles, he said Paris doesn’t want him to be tied down to one spot.

“I feel like I can be another great role player on this team be a great leader even as a freshman and make a immediate impact for the team,” Assemian said.
