South Carolina men’s basketball has its second commitment in as many days,

After earning a commitment from Providence center Christ Essandoko, the Gamecocks landed a pledge from one of the top scorers in America.

On Sunday, North Dakota transfer guard Treysen Eaglestaff announced his pledge to Lamont Paris and company.

He was an All-Summit league selection after averaging 18.9 points a game. He scored a career-high 51 points against South Dakota State in the Summit League tournament earlier this month and also had 40 against Alabama in December.

Eaglestaff ranked No. 46 nationally in points per game.

Per a team source, Eaglestaff (6-foot-6, 190 pounds) had a number of other visits planned but canceled them after committing to South Carolina — only adding to the major recruiting victory for Paris and his staff.

Eaglestaff should help quell some of the backcourt issues that plagued South Carolina in 2023. For most of the year, the Gamecocks — lacking an ultra-confident guard — struggled to bring the ball up the court against a press and only one USC guard (Jamarii Thomas) averaged over eight points a name.

With forward Collin Murray-Boyles likely to enter the NBA Draft, South Carolina needed scorers for 2025. Now, with Eaglestaff joining freshman Eli Ellis, the Gamecocks have a pair of scorers capable of dropping 30 points on any given night.
