Arden Conyers is staying in the Carolinas to continue his college basketball career.

The former South Carolina Gamecock announced Wednesday on his Instagram page that he is transferring to the Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball roster.

Conyers announced March 24 he was entering the transfer portal.

“I picked Charlotte because I trust the coach and believe he will help me grow as a player,” Conyers told The State.

According to Conyers, other schools he considered were Xavier, UAB, Indiana State, UNC Wilmington, UT San Antonio and Tulsa.

Conyers was a three-star prospect coming out of Westwood High School, where he averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game as a senior. Conyers redshirted his first season at South Carolina but saw an increased role this year and appeared in 23 games, averaging 4.3 points. He scored 10 or more points four times this year including 13 against Auburn.

Conyers is one of six Gamecocks who have announced they are transferring from this year’s team but the first to land at a new school. Others who are leaving the program are G Austin Herro, G Zach Davis, G Jamarii Thomas, F Nick Pringle and G Cam Scott. Pringle also announced he planned to enter his name into the 2025 NBA Draft pool to get feedback from scouts.

Charlotte is coming of an 11-22 season. The 49ers lost leading scorer Nik Graves to the transfer portal. Graves announced Wednesday he has transferred to Creighton.
