Nordin Kapic started his college career at the Division II level. He’ll finish it at a Power 4 school.

Kapic committed to play for Lamont Paris and South Carolina men’s basketball team on Friday. He becomes the sixth transfer addition to the Gamecocks’ roster this spring. He’ll have one year of eligibility left.

The forward announced plans March 31 to enter the transfer portal.

With transfers, returnees and incoming freshmen, the Gamecocks’ roster now stands at 12 players.

The 6-foot-8 Austrian helped UC-San Diego to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in his lone year with the program. Kapic started 33 games this season and averaged 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds. He scored a season-high 25 points against CSU Baskerfield on Dec. 7.

He had 15 points and seven rebounds in the NCAA Tournament game against Michigan.

Before UC-San Diego, Kapic played two seasons at Division II Lynn College in Florida, where he was Sunshine State Conference Freshman of Year in 2023 and first-team all-conference the following year. He led the Sunshine State Conference in scoring (19.3), including a 42-point performance against Tampa, and was fifth in rebounding (9.2) in the 2023-24 season.
