Another newcomer: Eli Ellis’ teammate commits to USC Gamecocks, Lamont Paris
South Carolina men’s basketball is adding another piece to its roster.
High school recruit Abu Yarmah has committed to Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks basketball team, he announced via social media on Monday.
Yarmah originally signed with High Point this year but opened up his recruiting after the coaching change there. Head coach Alan Huss left to become an assistant coach at Creighton but will be the coach-in-waiting when Greg McDermott retires.
Yarmah, a Virginia native, finished his high school career at Moravian Prep in North Carolina and Overtime Elite, playing alongside Gamecock 2025 signees Eli Ellis and Hayden Assesmian. Ellis teased Yarmah’s commitment in recent days.
“What’s that I hear? Another commit?” Ellis posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
The 6-foot-7 Yarmah and Ellis helped lead the Dreamerz to the OTE championship this year. He averaged 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds this season with OTE and had 10 points, 13 rebounds in the title game.
Yarmah was a three-star 2025 prospect with offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Ohio and Old Dominion.
Yarmah’s commitment gives the Gamecocks 12 players on the roster and likely will be 13th once Myles Stute gets medically cleared to return for another season.
