South Carolina men’s basketball has experienced its latest shakeup, this time at the hands of winter weather.

USC’s home contest vs. LSU, originally scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m., has been moved to 1 p.m, per a team release. There is a winter storm watch in effect in Columbia from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Sunday. The game will stream on SEC Network Plus.

“The watch is in effect due to likely seeing more than two inches of snow accumulation,” National Weather Service meteorologist Drew Hickok told The State on Thursday. Hickok said any forecast changes could mean substantially less or even more snow than currently predicted.

Hickok said the latest forecast, which is subject to change, shows that the Columbia area is expected to get between 3–6 inches of snow. There’s a 91% chance Columbia gets at least 2 inches of snow in the storm, the National Weather Service said.

The Gamecock women’s basketball nearly fell victim to a weather delay last week due to sleet and freezing rain in Columbia. USC ended up playing its home matchup against Vanderbilt as scheduled on Jan. 25 at 3 p.m.

This wouldn’t be the first time a South Carolina basketball team had to alter its matchup with the Tigers due to winter weather. Last season, the women’s team had to move a matchup with LSU back a day due to Winter Storm Enzo. LSU wasn’t able to travel to Columbia in time due to snow in the Baton Rouge area.
