South Carolina men’s basketball is adding its second European-born transfer to its roster.

Duquesne’s Jakub Necas committed to Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks on Monday, The State has confirmed. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz was the first to report the news. The Czech Republic native is the fifth player added from the transfer portal and second player born in Europe, joining Wisconsin’s Aleksas Bieliauskas, who is from Lithuania.

Necas will have one season of eligibility left.

The 6-foot-10 Necas played in 96 games for the Dukes over three seasons and made 53 starts over the last two years. He averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field in the 2025-26 season.

Necas was on the Duquesne squad that won the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament and upset sixth-seeded BYU in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. He had 12 points and six rebounds in the win over the Cougars.

Necas was named one of 10 Rising Stars for the Czech Republic at the 2024 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) U20 EuroBasket tournament. He was the top scorer in the event and averaged 18.6 points per game.
