Report: Nation’s fifth-leading scorer looking at South Carolina basketball
South Carolina’s basketball team spent the offseason looking for a little more punch on the wings.
The Gamecocks added grad transfer Frank Booker from FAU, but with one open scholarship, they’re reportedly getting a look from one of the nation’s top scorers.
Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reported Randy Onwuasor, a grad transfer from Southern Utah, will visit USC on Aug. 4. Last season, Onwuasor’s 23.6 points ranked fifth nationally.

Onwuasor also averaged 6.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals for a Thunderbirds team that struggled to a 6-27 record. He was one of the most heavily-relied upon offensive players in the country, ranking third in the country in field goal attempts.
He started his career at Texas Tech, where he the team’s seventh man as a freshman and sophomore.
At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Onwuasor is built like a thicker guard rather than true wing, but could boost a group that often relies on big guards.
