Dax Hollifield and his dad break down final five schools

Shelby linebacker Dax Hollifield and his father, Aubrey, discuss what they like about South Carolina, UNC, Stanford, Florida State and Virginia Tech.

Dax Hollifield, Shelby LB, Class of 2018

I like UNC because it’s a North Carolina school. I like representing the state. I feel like we’re a little underrated sometimes. I just like repping North Carolina.

I like South Carolina, the coaching staff, I love Coach (Will) Muschamp, I love Coach (Bobby) Bentley, Coach (Coleman) Hutzler. They’re all great guys. Hutzler, he’s a great guy. I’ve gotten to know his family pretty well and that relationship is pretty good with him. That’s what I like about them, and playing time obviously.

Virginia Tech, the same thing about South Carolina, playing time and the relationship with the people and everything like that.

Stanford, I love the education. I love Palo Alto. It’s great out there. And the same thing about playing time. I can play there. All five of my schools I can play, that’s what they’ve been saying.

Florida State, I think they’re going to win. They have a good shot of winning the national championship this year and I want to go to a winning school and really compete for a national championship. That’s why I like them and playing time.

Aubrey Hollifield, DL coach Shelby High, Former Wake Forest player

Stanford, you can’t beat the education, you just can’t. What sucks about it is it’s 2,000 miles away.

Virginia Tech, I love the atmosphere there. I love the fact that I think they’re on the verge of winning.

South Carolina, I love the coaches. I think Coach Muschamp is awesome. I think Coach Hutzler is awesome. I like both of those guys. I think they’re tough men and I think Dax thrives around tough people.

North Carolina, I like those coaches a lot. And North Carolina is our home place. I didn’t go to North Carolina. I grew up not really being a big North Carolina fan, but as far as being in your home state and I think the connections you can make when you graduate from that place, I think that’s a big bonus.

Florida State, I think the thing that’s so appealing about Florida State is within a four- or five-year range you’re probably going to have a chance to play for a national championship, which not everybody gets the chance to do that.
