South Carolina football lands third 2019 commit
Offensive lineman Jaylen Nichols of Charlotte committed Monday night to South Carolina for the 2019 class.
The Gamecocks now have three juniors committed for the next recruiting cycle.
Nichols (6-5, 290) was offered by the Gamecocks in the summer after attending a camp in Columbia. He said offensive line coach Eric Wolford and head coach Will Muschamp made him feel very comfortable.
“I like the coaches because they are consistent, honest and straightforward,” Nichols said. “Coach Wolford said I need improvement, of course, but where I am now he sees a bright future.”
Nichols said he primarily plays offensive tackle. Right now he’s planning to sign in December of 2018. And he said he won’t shut down his recruiting because he wants to draw in recruiters to see some of his teammates next season.
Nichols also has an offer from Indiana and has drawn interest from North Carolina, Arkansas and Virginia Tech. He attended games this past season at USC, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.
