JUCO first baseman Ross Grosvenor commits to Gamecocks
The South Carolina baseball team landed a commitment this week from a junior college first baseman.
Ross Grosvenor (6-5, 250) of Franklin, Tenn., picked the Gamecocks after visiting the USC campus.
Grosvenor plays for Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tenn, and has team highs as a sophomore in batting average (.445), hits (73), home runs (15) and RBIs (76). He also has 15 doubles and has a slugging percentage of .811.
“Ross is a tremendous, hard-working young man who has turned himself into an outstanding baseball player here at Walters State,” head coach David Shelton said. “He has carried us to a 43-9 record thus far, not only with his play on the field, but with his leadership in the dugout and off the field. He will be a tremendous asset to the Gamecocks for the next two years.”
USC will be losing first baseman Kyle Martin after this season, and Grosvenor will battle to be his replacement.
Grosvenor is the 17th commitment for the Gamecocks 2015 class and the first listed as a first baseman.
